i just about bought a car from them last week, but used their price online to buy an identical car locally. Of note - they offered me more for my trade than anyone else - so i was able to take that trade in price and shop it around at the local dealerships, so in a way they really helped me out. 

Because Ford has 3000 dealers and Tesla started with ZERO. They’d be facing legal challenges from all of them and 48/50 states where it is illegal to sell new cars D2C. Not to mention the economic damage that would be caused by putting all those people out of work.

You want to proliferate EVs to the public, they MUST be affordable.

They just need to borrow a few thousand dollars for some jet-fuel to fly one of the planes out of Nigeria and when they sell the plane they’ll split the millions they get with you as a reward for your generosity and trust.

Not really; the revenue from legacy first is not great considering that there is much higher demand for biz; which in turn provides more revenue per square foot of passenger cabin floor. Consider it a net win for everyone.

I would argue that the 3 and Y are less luxurious than almost any mid-range vehicle from any traditional OEM. The inside of a $30k mid-size Sedan or Suv from a traditional OEM is way nicer than a $50k Tesla.

Unless you live in Maine/New Hampshire/Vermont/Mass.  Then its a deep hatred for the Yankees that is the default
