You’ve described the exact reason I got out of programming. I loved it when I was able to see myself as hot shit working on toys that I enjoyed.

As soon as I got employed and was a cog, I hated it, and realized it was time to find a new career.

If I wasn’t busy with my real, actual work, I would dip back into that first article announcing George was going over there just to re-read all the dick-riding comments about how this galaxy-brain genius was going to move mountains, just to taste how poorly they aged.

I’m willing to be there’s a “no stopping on tracks” sign just the other side of that beam.  This was pure idiocy.

100% this. That beam is freakin enormous. When they moved the Space Shuttle through LA they had to practically shut down the entire goddamn city, and that was actually 12 feet shorter than this beam

I feel like if you are moving something like that you need to coordinate with the railroad if a crossing is unavoidable.

Its almost as if predators seek out jobs that give them access to their preferred targets and have minimal to nonexistent oversight.

counterpoint: trucks and SUVs should be taxed to high heaven, they should be illegal to own without a legitimate reason (particularly in cities), and you should need to a CDL to operate them.

counterpoint: they should be taxed to high heaven and you should need a CDL to drive these stupid fucking things

Meanwhile, there’s now legislation to require forward cameras on vehicles because more children are being killed in “frontover accidents” where the driver can’t see the first 10-12 feet of ground ahead. Think about that. We’re now talking about cameras to see in the direction we generally look out of our vehicles.

In that case, let’s lower taxes on every other vehicle. :)

America has one of the lowest tax burdens of all the advanced nations.

The average gas tax in the United States is less than $0.30 per gallon.

You must have a very tight sphincter if that qualifies as “out the ass”

Fuel isn’t even taxed enough to pay for necessary infrastructure maintenance, not to mention environmental externalities.

The weight being the issue goes beyond gas tax. What about a 7000lb suv that is electric, or a 9000lb Hummer EV. These heavy electric cars and truck accelerate faster and quieter than ICE counterparts and pose an increased risk to people also using streets.

Just saying, these people are probably along the lines of listening q anon and believing the the sovereign citizen people.

LeVar is awesome and has been for a long time.

I would happily pay a reasonable amount more for slightly more space the problem is this. Five hour flight... Economy seat: $415, Business class $1160, First Class $3,240. Give me 15% more space for a hundred extra bucks and I’ll do it.

Factory installed Fuel Shark.

In this economy?!

close your open eye, and open the other one.
