What gets me is that they think anyone would get waffle house to go....like how could anyone thing that was a reasonable excuse in the first place?

For the longest time I thought that we shouldn’t say these kind of things, but now that they’re actively trying to kill themselves off, I say let ‘em.

I gotta say, that in my neighborhood (very diverse, lots of people from africa, latinos, etc), its mostly the trashy seeming white people I see without masks. We weren’t under a mandate here, but the city has asked people to wear masks indoors, and it seems like most people are smart enough to go along with it.
I do

Right? I’d be a vaccine bandit all day long

And pull a tooth too, because for some reason I’ve seen them do that in nature documentaries.

That was my initial takeaway too, and I was like “Wow, these people get dumber all the time”

Given that a 300,000 person army that was well paid and well equipped essentially just turned around and joined the other side, I don’t see how this could have possibly gone diferently.

But the Taliban didn’t violate the terms of their agreement. What they’re doing wasn’t covered in the ‘peace talks’.

Honestly, that would have been the best possible way to do it. Get in, take out Bin Laden, bomb the shit out of the Taliban to let them know not to fuck with us, and then leave. They (hopefully) learn the lesson of not backing anti-american terrorists, and then all the people who were championing military action get

Honestly though, what could have been done that would have resulted in a different endgame? The Taliban was patiently waiting for us to leave so they could rush into the power vacuum that was left behind. If we’d decided to incrementally pull out over the next 5 years, the result would have still been the same.

Perhaps we should blame the person who started this unwinnable war in the first place. This was going to be how it ended no matter how much money and time we spent there.

Yep, this is what the end was going to look like no matter who was in power or how many trillions of dollars and soldiers lives we spent there.

I honestly think they weren’t wiped out, they just immediately changed sides. They knew what was good for them. Die for a government they only support because the USA is providing their paycheck, or turn tail and fight for what they actually believe in, those were their options.

You said it best. There was no winning here. The second we left, whether it was this year, in 5 years, or in 20 more years, whatever the most powerful group of warlords was in the country would immediately take over and toss the ‘democratic’ government of the country out on it ass.

Wisconsin? You talking about FIBs? We get those here in MN too.

I rented one of those once because I thought it was cute, but damn, what a terrible car! You better turn off the AC if you want to merge onto the freeway and not feel like you’re going to die in a rear end collision.

I agree about Texas being that way with the left lane morons, but when you get to florida, people drive at any speed in any lane, all the time. Also, if you’re doing less than 85 on the freeway, you feel like you’re putting yourself and everyone else at risk by driving too slow.

Showing up at the gate an hour early requires you to have at least 2 fewer drinks before boarding. I can’t support that.

So these are residential elevators, right? If you have the kind of money to afford an elevator in your house, you can definitely afford to get a new child every now and then.

Generally speaking, if either of my dogs is eating something they’re not supposed to, its swallowed and gone before anyone can do anything about it. I’ve just accepted it.
