I agree, I graduated out of desktop support awhile back, and one of the takeaways from that was to NEVER put anything I couldn’t live without on my company laptop. When you work for a big place, a lot of times the default solution to any problem is to reimage the laptop and erase everything.

With how inexpensive computers are these days, I still think the best separation is to have a work computer and a personal computer. I’ve been doing work from home for about 5 years now, and it makes you way more willing to put up with work political bullshit. Whenever I talk to a recruiter or hiring manager, and I mention that I work from home, they’re like “Oh we don’t do that at xyz company” and I’m like, ok, I’m out.
