Its really this community that kept me coming back for more. I’d read an article and think “Oh shit, the comments are going to be AMAZING”

That’s how MSP does it as well, drivers can’t wait at the pickup area, they have to wait offsite somewhere and then come pick up their fares.

I totally agree, while it saddens me deeply to see this, it seems like the best thing to do at this point.

Brilliant! COTD!

The real question here is: What can we do to subvert the owners of GMG and bring this site back to the vibrant place it was without risking the jobs of those who produce the content we all love so much?

Done! And thank you for that list. I’ll be keeping an eye open. Imagine if the staff that’s left started up a site called something like ‘grizmodo’ and ‘dreadspin’ and ‘sprinter’ with all the content that we’ve come to love and comment sections that occupy so much of our time and create a great community of both

If you follow any of them on twitter you can get a better idea of what’s going on.

I agree, the timing couldn’t possibly have been worse for them to do this. Those private equity guys really know their business, eh?

for some reason that got my blood up before I even got to the /s

We should make this trend on the social medias, eh?

Its interesting, for some reason they feel like deadspin being just another generic sports blog is going to keep it alive.

I’ve loved and come to depend on the GMG sites since the early days of Gawker, it makes me really sad to watch its quick decline and death. Its like finding out your friend has stage 4 pancreatic cancer and has 2 weeks to live.

I agree, he’s definitely a pigfucker who’s taking a successful business and media outlet and flushing it directly down the shitter.

That’s what I’ve been hoping for. Also for someone to tell me where to sign up for updates about that. With Splinter and Deadspin gone, there’s just not that much meat left on the bone here.

The sudden death of the comments section is definitely going to be the death of deadspin.

It even made the NYTimes (sadly behind the paywall). Definitely a poor decision on the part of management. One of many they’ve made lately (ie the death of splinter too)

It makes me so sad to see the death throes of this site at the hands of its new owners. For years I’ve come here for great content on all kinds of topics, and especially the snarky political content. The new owners don’t seem to understand that that’s what actually made these sites great and differentiated them from

way to keep it classy there bud
