The VH1 "Behind the Music" parody episode calls them Kentuckians. That's about as close to a reveal as we're ever going to get... and much more substantial than this.

There's only one solution (in light of this lunar information): look through the rest of the episodes, taking note of all "night sky" imagery (and probably sun position too), and see if it is consistent with a particular location. (I'm guessing not, but who knows?)
