Why should child molestation victims put the concerns of the institutions before their own needs for justice? How can you ask someone who has been molested to put aside their trauma and just think of the financial concerns of the institution that did this to them? Appalling.

I don’t disagree that trying to make “cultural appropriation” illegal is far-fetched as hell, but like I said in another comment, there is a difference between companies with no connection whatsoever to a culture making money off it and a Mexican embracing his/her past history.

Say what you will about the specific proposal, but the fundamental issue seems to me to be that indigenous people don’t like to be shat on economically/socially/etc while watching insanely privileged people parade around and make money off some disengaged idea of them. This is just one way to push back.
