Abdus-Salaam was the surname of her first husband, who was Muslim. She never converted. She did start her professional career with that surname, though, so even after divorcing and remarrying her second husband, then divorcing and marrying again (the Episcopalian), she retained that name since she was well known by it

They say when you hear hooves think horses not zebras, and I feel like hmmm a successful black woman, mistakenly reported for years to be Muslim, responsible for making legal decisions that have surely pissed people off in the past, found dead during a time where racially motivated crime is on the rise.... I’m no

Right after she died all the headlines said she was muslim, but the local NY news clarified that while her husband was muslim, She never identified her self as such. At first I thought, this is just another case of people judging by the name etc. Then I saw the family suicide news, and thought, how sad, that poor

Pick your poison:

Robin Hood was my first cartoon crush. That was one foxy fox.

Maybe the point is that some people forfeit the right to be treated as a person and need to be put down. You kill an animal, wild or domesticated, for killing a person.

I have conflicted feelings on the death penalty for multiple reasons but whenever I hear some talk about the prisoner ‘suffering’ I just have to roll my eyes.

I’ve got to say, I’m not really against the death penalty. Should we find a better way to do it? Sure! But I think a lot of people never really read the fine print in some of these cases...some of these asshats really deserve to die.

Regardless of your opinion on the death penalty, for context (emphasis mine):

Lots of issues going on here but the must clear cut one is that we should be using nitrogen asphyxiation for these if we’re going to do them.

Yeah, and there are blue dots in every state.

...okay, stupid fucking white man here. I saw this blow up on Twitter, and don’t get me wrong: I get a lot of why this is blowing up... but my understanding is mostly the usual “whitewashing”, “losing something important to the black community”, “white standards of beauty” stuff.

I’m a white woman and I’ve used Shea Moisture bar soaps before. In Target (in my area, at least) those are stocked in the same aisle with the more upscale bath & body products. Seems like a smarter pivot into the white market would be to, like, promote the products white people are already using? ESPECIALLY vaguely

This is ridiculous. Black ppl need to chill on this one. Theres so few black owned businesses on a national level that are really doing it and we are not going to support them because they want white womens money too? Ok, let’s jus dump our money into Pantene or the other white owned hair care products who jus jumped

Can’t learn a lesson about optimism from Mr. Obama?

but you actually are mad at people for moving to good places to live?? like, you’re blaming them for this?

And all the young audience members nodded their heads in agreement to his platitudes about outreach and understanding, and then they left the auditorium, graduated, moved to one of three cities, wasted their votes in 90% Democratic districts, and lost the House of Representatives and the presidency for another 50

This strikes me as insane.

How do you whitewash marketing? If the point of the ad is to let white people know a product works for their hair also, wouldn’t that just be targeting a new market segment? This would be like getting pissed at Cadillac when their marketing realized that their brand can’t be only old white people, because those folks

All of those things she says are at stake are indeed at stake but more so because of her than macron. He ain’t perfect by a long shot much like Hillary who had a similar platform if slightly more hawkish. This election will like come down to the countryside vs the city like brexit and trump. Macron is probably the
