*yawns* as a zune owner, having the entire interface mimic zune's (with the exception of the boring 2D tiles) has fail written all over it, imho... Zune's interface is ok on a media player, but for a phone? Microsoft is betting hard on this and unfortunately I don't see this going very far. Only time will tell...

Pin a rose on your nose

@Mihos: same here, I have tried holding my evo tons of ways and can't get a huge drop in signal. And yeah, Apple's response yesterday was so snobbish. Could you imagine if Toyota said that? "All cars are built with defects, its a fact of life. Deal with it!" Insane. Both companies are industry leaders but one did

@Emperor_was_a_jerk: People are dumb. Case in point. I was at bestbuy buying my evo and two different people came into bestbuy complaining about reception. Bestbuy did tell them to go buy a bumper from at&t, but people don't think, hey I should call Apple care. I know my boss just went and bought a third party case.

@lucasway89: There's a breakdown of how the bars were displayed in the past compared to now. It's here on gizmodo, so just search (sorry, I'm doing this from my phone right now). Basically, in 4.0, the algorithm barely accounted fir the third bar. The latest algorithm divides each bar equally over an equal amount of

You can actually call HTC? I have an Evo and never knew that...

@cjp: See, there's tons of ways to get rid of the sense UI. I have a stock Evo (not rooted) and I currently have 3 options to choose from when I hit the home button.

Could you imagine if Toyota came out and did this kinda show-boating with its problems? "Yeah, all car companies produce cars with defects - it's a fact of life. Deal with it."

@bookmark: It's actually ridiculous to take 4 different phones, with completely different antenna configurations and say that a specific hold characterizes the entire smartphone market.

What kind of excuses are these?

@cmykvsrgb: The numbers are a bit skewed. 3 million phones in 3 weeks implies they're selling a million per week, but the fact is, I've heard sales are actually declining due to the whole issue of the antenna. They sold something like 1.5 million in the first week, but over the next 2 weeks, sales dropped by half...

it didn't work because you were obviously holding it wrong... just grip different...

"Nokia didn't mention Apple by name (probably because Apple never mentioned them)"

@dis3as3d: Yeah - he threw a couple zingers Gizmodo's way... lol

@cmykvsrgb: "Apple nor Steve care's what you think or feel." That's not what they said in the keynote... They take things very personally...

What kind of excuses are these?

@Trickyhop: Like Woz, that's their "backup" Verizon phone, when she can't get a signal...

That was fast.... They usually don't put up the link until the evening, but seen as how this is damage control, I can see the sense of urgency...

I'm sorry, but it truly is the most ironic spectacle I've seen in quite some time! With Jobs and Co. so highly touting the 'brilliance' of the design of this phone, with such an oversight in said design is simply laughable. If you're going to put this whole shock and awe presentation about the merits of the phone, but
