You are wrong about fruitcake. THe thing is, that monstrosity that white people call fruitcake is not actually fruitcake; it is a crime agianst nature and baking. It is a waste of various flavored extracts, it is a misuse of candied fruit. It is evidence of a lack of proper soaking and grinding in the baking process.

Tangent: As a not-young, I remember making faux gingerbread “cookie” ornaments out of sawdust and some sort of glue / binder. Is that still a thing for kids whose parents have (or know someone with) a table / circular / jig saw?
