538 said that it looked like Hispanic voters went for Hillary by a 40% margin instead of the 18% the exit polls were showing. As for why that happened... idk, is it possible that exit pollsters didn’t do a great job polling people whose first (possibly only) language was Spanish?

I imagine he felt like I do when my kid is making a choice I know they’re going to regret later. “Are you sure? Are you really really sure? Really 100% sure?”

sorry, that other reply wasn’t actually supposed to be to you (effing kinja) :/

Which is why clever authors hire uber fans to continuity check their manuscripts.

Yeah, I saw it as soon as I popped over to the mail Slot page. I missed it before because I got to this article through a Jezebel link.

In Paris (most of France actually) AC is not remotely a given.

Samantha Bee made exactly that point on her show last night when she was interviewing a group of Bernie Supporters. They did not take it well.

No worries :) I’m sure most (if not all) of us have had reading comprehension fails in the past.

Not that our (USA) system isn’t broken but this particular case was in Australia.

That’s a good point. My parents worked with a woman for more than 20 years who they thought was black but wasn’t. She had married a black man in the 60's and they found that not only was the black community more accepting of their relationship but the rest of the world was a lot easier to navigate when people assumed

That would be me. Now these might not be the best examples because they were roundly panned but I was excited about Avatar and Gods of Egypt until read about the casting at which point I wrote them off.

I’m pretty handy and generally good at DIY but I also have 3 young children so if I can’t do it while wearing the baby or during nap time/over night it’s just not in the cards right now. Right now I’m in the process of removing the (painted over!) wallpaper from the hallway/stairwell which is going to take months but

My MIL convinced my husband the two of them could tile the backsplash in our kitchen as part of the remodel. I was not ok with that since the tile was glass and handmade and therefore expensive and tricky to work with. I talked him down to the floor which was floating click lock and therefore something he should have

I thought she was pretty terrible from day one, plus the recasting of the roll was very distracting which didn’t help.

I was just saying this in a thread on another article. Asking for hugs/kisses is definitely the best way to introduce the idea of consent/bodily autonomy to kids.

Substitute “parent” for “mother” and I’m right with you.

Situations like that are actually one* of the best ways to start teaching little kids about consent and bodily autonomy. My 6 and 4 year old kids have years of being reminded that you can offer/ask for a hug but if the other person doesn’t want one you need to leave them alone because their body belongs to them.

Dish soap (preferably original Dawn). Get the spot wet, squirt on a little dawn, and use an old toothbrush to scrub it in a gentle circular motion. If that doesn’t take care of it you can try mixing a hydrogen peroxide with the dawn. http://moderndaymoms.com/homemade-mirac…

Merri and Kody got legally divorced so he could marry Robyn and adopt her kids. That way they could get on his health insurance and if anything happens to Robyn they would retain custody (rather than them going to their biological father).

To be fair that’s her hair from when she was what, 20? My hair is very different now at 35 and after 3 pregnancies than it was at 20. It’s definitely thicker and it went from being stick straight to having my my stylist calls a “hard wave”. It also never used to hold a curl for more than a few hours and now curls hold
