Terrible, terrible. I’d put “getting hit by a bus” before all of these except Pandemic, Catan, Backgammon, Chess.

I saw Basic Instinct on a first date with a guy who grew up in a Mennonite community. Big mistake. Thought he was going to die of embarrassment on the spot.
Another vote for Taste of the Wild, here — I switch him up between the Wild Boar and Smoked Salmon flavors every couple of bags, and he loves it.
I have not watched The Crown yet, but I have to give a shout-out to Bel Powley’s turn as Margaret in the thin but charming movie A Royal Night Out. Hilarious.
Marin Mazzie is responsible for the only showstopper I’ve ever seen in person — it was “I Hate Men,” in Kiss Me, Kate. Just astonishing. Literally had to stop and acknowledge the thunderous and unending applause. Such a great theater moment, what a talent!
Great post and nice appreciation of an underrated talent! Thanks —
I honestly believe it’s Steve Bannon sowing more chaos, that’s all. Racial wedges are a fun focal point for him, and it’s easy to get J. Beauregard Sessions to jump on board.
Some girls across the hall from my college dorm room had a “PRAY TO END ABORTION” bumper sticker tacked to their door. My roommate’s boyfriend countered that on our door’s whiteboard by writing “ABORT TO END PRAYER.”
I would think this was a dog whistle for his fans, but come on, his fans don’t go to college! They think edumacation is for libtards. And librul professors are ruining our youth.
34 years, that is a great achievement. I’m glad he asked, I’m sure that took some bravery on his part. I’m sorry for your loss.
I watched that scene earlier today! Fantastic. He certainly does sound like a class act.
I was surprised it was renewed, frankly — but of course I’ll still watch! When it first started, I was ready to HATE it, and thought converting John Watson to “Joan” was ridiculous gimmickry. But I have to say, I think it’s mostly extremely clever, and I really like that pair of leads together. They do a pretty good…
Could be. And that’d be its own sad story. Just sad all around.
Amen to that. Information worth sharing, for sure. (And I just don’t subscribe to the stigma about “your dad is an alcoholic” — yeah, yup, he is. But you knowing this information is more important than me being embarrassed about having learned it!)
Yes, I was disappointed in the way they ended that character’s storyline, it was not satisfying.
Damn, I’m sorry, good luck. That is hard on you, grandma, and uncle all. 30%, holy cats. We were lucky that Dad was in ICU; he was restrained to his bed with alarms, and those nurses were so incredible, they managed the whole difficult situation masterfully.
Had my dad not already been in the ICU for another thing when he went through alcohol withdrawal, it likely would have killed him; until then, I didn’t realize how tough that process is on the body. Although I never watched True Blood, I thought Ellis did a fantastic job as Shinwell, on Elementary. Very sad loss.
And have EMINENTLY GIF-ABLE facial expressions while doing it! Love her.
This show is fantastic. Niecy BRINGS IT in both comedy and drama, I hope she gets some serious recognition for this work. The script has a whole bunch of sharp little claw marks in it — my favorite is “Malala ain’t got nuttin’ on you, boo” in episode 3.
