Just last weekend I got into an argument with my Tea Party mother about the movie Lincoln, of all things — and she wrapped it up with this classic line, straight out of the Republican playbook: "Well, I guess I'm just more concerned with facts, and you're just more concerned with emotion." IT'S THE FACTS THAT GET ME

Glad you liked it! :)

Whee, I win! Or more accurately, YOU win, because it's a fantastic movie. I love the Henry Mancini score, and the opening credit sequence. Enjoy!

Charade, and My Man Godfrey.

I learned just last night, from the bottle cap on my Snapple, that the number sign (#) is called an octothorpe.

Oh, there would be infinite problems, certainly. But I have no sense of permanence — about myself, my country, my planet — so I really wonder how things will change when the breaking point comes.

I just feel like I no longer want to be partners in citizenship with these morons. It's so tiring. Wonder when we'll reach the point when it matters less that we continue the union of these states, than that we decide maybe everyone would be happier apart. (A question to which my Tea Party mother would reply with

Purse is a Keen Brooklyn II Travel Bag — I have a black one and a brown one, and unless I'm getting particularly dressed-up for something special, these are my everyday bags. Cross-body! Gotta keep the hands free.

Seems like this could potentially be penalized as some sort of snap violation. False start? 12 (or 20, or however many) men on the field? Loss of yards but not down. What's the penalty if an offense snaps the ball before all the referees are in place and ready?

They should have listened to you! And I love how people are now trying to explain how wrong I am, how it's actually a great movie but I'm probably just too dumb to realize it.

A part of me thought, do I need to see it again, did I miss something? And then the rest of me realized, no, it's crap; the emperor has no clothes. Hollywood just auto-fellates every now and again. I will be pissed if this wins much, although I do expect it'll win something (screenplay, maybe)? Boo.

I do not get all the love for Silver Linings Playbook. It was a lot of yelling, with a side of mental illness. Cooper and Lawrence committed (no pun intended) to their performances, I don't fault them — but I thought it was pretty terrible overall. (And realize that many people think otherwise.)

Yeah, thanks, she died in 2004 so I've had a while to deal with that! She didn't notice or care about my confidence, really. I know she did love me, but her worldview agreed with Charlotte Allen, I'm sorry to say. She was a product of her place and time, so I don't look back in anger, but that comment has certainly

Ouch! I feel your pain on that one.

The last thing my grandmother said about me before she died was "Maybe if [Booktart] wasn't so smart, she'd have a nice boyfriend." :(

DO I LOOK LIKE A FROLICKER??!? I've seen eps 1-6 so far, and saw that death coming, but am still really enjoying this season.

InformIT is having the same thing (and includes video too).

I can't imagine ever voting for someone dumb enough to think science cares whether or not you believe in it. You not believing in evolution doesn't make it false.

ME TOO. BC seems like such a bitch in real life, even though I think he's good in that role and I love that show (especially Martin Freeman). JLM = YUM.

I like it too! I expected to find LL highly irritating, and as it turns out, I like her. She's good at normal, wish she'd do that more.
