I grew up down the street from Brookside Gardens and all my classmates who lived in Olney and thought my brown father was Indian (he’s Mexican, you dopes) were terrified of Wheaton/Glenmont and called it ghetto all the time. Nonetheless, I won’t even say I’m “from” DC but will launch into an unwelcome explanation of

I stand corrected! Did not know it could also be spelled toe...I am somewhat of a grammar/spelling pedant, must be an ESL thing, don’t want to be misunderstood. Thanks for being so nice!

I’ll probably move to Fairfax. It sucks that Clarendon has gotten so ‘urban,’ they have some good dive bars and really authentic ethnic food, like Ambar.

Agree 100000%. That guy who started it bred an ugliness into community relations in the city. And as one of my friends put it, it’s pretty bold to move into a neighborhood as a gentrifier and then declare yourself the “prince” of it.

Craven fucking cowards.

“The revitalizations don’t come until White people move in, then you get gardens, bus benches, more healthy food options etcetcetc. Why does a neighborhood only become better when we can’t afford to live there anymore?”

They trying to squeeze into Wheaton now. Everyday I see some new labradoodle pulling some gentrifiers down my street.

Holy fucking damn. I’m a Black gentrifier (sort of). I’ve been in the district proper for 11 years.

It’s actually towheaded...otherwise, you had an interesting head as a child LOL *runs away*

And her extensions are usually a hot mess. You know ain’t no LGBTQ or POC stylist gonna tell her either.

“I live here now, but as soon as the next guy comes in I’m not living here anymore because seriously? The panhandlers outside the Metro playing drums on their buckets really disturb my morning jog, and yesterday I went into the Starbucks and they were playing ‘This Is America’ and it made me kind of uncomfortable.

The only problem: There were no black people featured in any of the photos. All of the “residents” were white.

What is even MORE ridiculous is these young white folks roll into DC, live there for a few years and then leave when the administration changes, or more likely they graduate from college. They are no more FROM DC than I am FROM Harlem, we live there but we aren’t from there.

The revitalizations don’t come until White people move in, then you get gardens, bus benches, more healthy food options etcetcetc. Why does a neighborhood only become better when we can’t afford to live there anymore? Why is White skin seen as more worthy of investment? Black people spend a lot of money in this

Wish I had known about this cause I definitely would have been there front and center reppin’ hard as a proud Washingtonian who still resides in the city.

Are we sure that he’s not just confusing her with her future selves?

So we can expect him to go back to his negotiating tactic of calling Kim “little rocket man” and threatening to nuke his country off the map?

He must have tripped on his bone spurs
