I would say the best Fallout killer I’ve seen lately as far as setting and weird post-apocalyptic humor has been Wasteland 3, though the isometric turn based combat is closer to the original Fallout games than the newer FPS ones.

I thought Outer Worlds was fun, just really short for what it was. The big Fallout killers imo have been all the excellent CRPGs out in recent years. Pillars of Eternity, Disco Elysium, Divinity: Original Sin, and Tyranny have all been great.
Gamers still think they are clever by using this joke, huh? Well that’s a shame but let me help you out.
The Outer Worlds came out last October as a timed Epic / Microsoft Store exclusive. It just hasn’t hit Steam yet.
This sounds like... the exact plot of the Firefly movie Serenity. Firefly: there are these insane tweakers all over the system that attack people for no reason! Serenity: it’s because space capitalism tried to do a drug and Reaver-fied a bunch of people.
Can you define what you mean by “bad writing”? I hear this schtick a lot but most folks don’t really say why they feel that way.
I don’t know, I thought it was good if not great. Enjoyed the world/environment much more than most RPGs. The thing I think it lacked the most was the sort of modern customization/live-in-the-world stuff that big games have these days. The underpinnings and format seemed decidedly last gen, even if i enjoyed the world…
I don’t know what this says about me, but I honestly expected a worse ending than that. By Outer World standards (or even real world ones unfortunately) that’s almost outright hopeful.
“Imagine accidentally hitting this while waiting for a herd of sheep to cross a road? Oh god.”
Unpopular Opinion: The 2008 Speed Racer “live action” movie is amazing if you pretend you’re 8 while you watch it.
How do you make a list about each Speed Racer Mach 5 button and not know that the jacks are for jumping ravines and opponents... the list goes on and on.
Powerful jacks are for jumping chasms, destroyed bridges thing like that. Essential for beating the Car Acrobatic Team. It’s almost like you’ve never watched Speed Racer.
I mean if you have the rights to the best movie theme, you might as well use it.
Damn, now I wanna watch some Richard Donner Superman.
Listen, if you’re a consumer of geek media, you simply can’t be universally cynical about marketing hype- it’s half the fun. Frequently tiring and overbearing, yes, but genuinely memorable when done well & with a semblance of heart.
I don’t get what’s weird about it. It’s a virtual event. It’s the (still incredibly effective) John Williams theme. Which - BTW - can WB just make his theme THE Superman theme, kind of like how the Pink Panther theme and the James Bond themes are used no matter who the actor or what timeline they’re in? No need to…
No, she gave us self-help and mediocrity.
Yah she still sounds like an asshole.
That reminds me of when I wanted to take a gander at the engine in my parent’s Hyundai Athos.
Why when Wish will sell me a cheaper knock-off for $20 through Facebook?
