Last Action Hero is one of the best films Schwarzenegger has ever done. I loved it when it came out and it stood the test of time pretty well. And it also has F. Murray Abraham (he killed Mozart), Charles Dance (with fake eye) and a cartoon cat (he’s back from suspension). Th action film tropes it made fun of are

That’s a good point. There was a lot of handwringing in the entertainment press back in ‘88 along the lines of “Can the star of Moonlighting be an action hero?!?” Now the sardonic, quippy action star is a cliche.

This is a compelling point.

And certainly, 1993 was in the waning years of that sort of film—that type of big-budget action blockbusters doesn’t exist anymore, really.

JATW makes me laugh. I know it’s not a good movie, but god help me when it comes on TV I watch it again.

I remember seeing this as a kid and loving it. I still love it today. This movie is perfect to me. I know it is terrible, but I love it. To me it is up there with Demolition man as one of those films that goes through bad, hits good, and then smashes though to amazing. Even at it’s worse, this film is a million times

I actually quite like this film, but then I also like Jingle All the Way. So what do I know?

I don’t know about it being the funniest. I thoroughly enjoyed Guardians of the Galaxy 2 and was laughing throughout. I’ve been looking forward to Thor so if it’s as funny as the Galaxy movie then I’m all in.

Heh. I’m pretty sure the number of words written about R+L=J since the late 90s rivals the length of all the ASoIaF books put together.

I don’t think that is really that hot a take - Deadpool had a lot of great laugh-out-loud moments and a lot of good-god-trying-too-hard-to-be-funny moments too. There’s plenty of room for a movie to have fewer of the latter.

Okay, you had me at Cate Blanchett. I’d watch her read a 2009 Honda Civic Maintenance manual. Preferably at my place.

The caption for the pic with the Hulk and Thor should be “Hulk sad. Hulk want to go Mardi Gras. Went to Asgard instead. Hulk has beads and no one to throw to.”

What the...? A little early for a review isn’t it? It comes out November 3rd ohmygodthatsbarelytwoweeksfromnow.

All the Night King requires is....a shrubbery.

Davis also said Kanigit instead of knight. Does this mean the Night King is really John Clees?

...wait.

“Kindling of Literacy”? Really?

It’s important to note that she also taught Gilly to read, later leading to her discovering Rhaegar and Lyanna’s secret marriage (even though Samwell totally ignored her at the time)
