This is not a case where appealing to double standards makes sense. The reason we’d be happy for the older woman/younger man combo is that it fights the prevailing (and shitty) cultural assumption that women dry out at a certain point and should be traded in for a younger model. The older man/younger woman combo

The kind of power being talked about is not held by individuals. It’s systemic, the product of institutionalized practices that disenfranchise entire generations of people based on race.

Everyone ‘gets it’ in the sense that we see where the reasoning came from. But it’s fundamentally bad reasoning based on making an exception of oneself and screwing over everybody else. It is the very definition of immoral, shitty behavior. We can understand how he came to do what he did AND condemn him for it. Doing

Top notch trolling. Gotta make it seem like you’re unravelling a bit or it’s just not believable.

You can be disenfranchised and at risk for violent behavior at the same time, dude. Basic cause and effect.

We’re not talking about muggings, or small-scale shootings that happen off campus and don’t target members of the University community. Do not blame this shit on the systematically disenfranchised and desperate people who live in surrounding South Side neighborhoods.

How do progressive social politics bottom out in limitless chaos for some people? Respecting what consenting adults choose to do in private doesn’t mean barring discussion about systematic issues. Especially when we’re talking about rape culture and the way it effectively victimizes half the population in one fell

I think he’s been reading Woody Allen’s short stories. And starring in his movies. And becoming delusional about what’s in his wheelhouse.

Thank you.

I get that it has to be anonymous for job safety, etc. I just wonder what’s the point of bringing it up at all if it has to be delivered that way. I hate that anonymous unsubstantiated “Oh honey, believe me” crap. It reads like a thinly veiled attempt to get attention for being around celebrities.

Ugh, why post this at all? You’re not swaying anyone’s opinion with this anonymous non-information.

I’m 29 and I wore heels for the first time ever recently. They were super comfortable and only 2 and half inches tall, and I *still* felt like a baby giraffe all night. I know practice counts for a lot, but even with years of experience I’m surprised more women don’t eat it walking into awards shows and premieres.

My god, I know. I gave up after the third degrading description of rape and murder. But like, it’s not the writer’s fault, he’s just SO HARDBOILED, you know?
