Deep Down Inside I'm Really Shallow

Dropping out was the condition of the promotion. If I wanted to "get my own store" I had to demonstrate my dedication to the company. And yes, this was presented to me with a straight face.

I worked for Blockbuster for 4 years in college. Right before I was fired in 2005 for exploiting a coupon code, I witnessed the most self-congratulatory corporate exercise of which I have ever been a part.

Spinal Meningitis… took me a while to love, but then it was recognized for its brilliance.  Although, it was hard to listen to for the first year after I became a father. L.M.L.Y.P. was what got me hooked, and my ex-wife hated them so much.  It probably speaks to how doomed the marriage was because I still walked down

The Fragile is my favorite and still gets play once in a while, but Year Zero was wonderful with only a lull or two to the awesomeness.  With Teeth had some good songs, including Sunspots which is one of my all-time favorite NIN songs and should have been the second single instead of Only, but has a few too many

Except that it has Starfuckers, Inc. which is not terrible so much as it completely kills the mood established by the first few songs.  One of my first tasks upon getting a cd burner back in 2000 was to take my WITT singles and burn an LP version to disc that contained 10 Miles High and Complication.

@avclub-b9a8f4af85454f7c56c06f0a39e7ec23:disqus I used to sing Fragile and The Great Below as bedtime songs to my son.  And unless you count a six year old who can name all twelve Doctors (in order, and correct you if you are wrong) as maladjusted, it didn't do too much harm.

An unsettling number of comments by @avclub-e57f718840a576abbb40a7d046c4e3b0:disqus  make me fear that I can never travel to the east coast lest I risk some kind of scientific event caused by us occupying the same space.  I guess what I'm saying is that I have uncomfortably similar opinions.

@Right_Bastard:disqus Trust fund hippies are the worst. Of course, my college years at Humboldt State inform that opinion as I was surrounded by those whose grades weren't good enough for Berkeley but still had enough money to soil the interiors of their Mercedes SUVs with their patchouli soaked clothes (homemade, of

Skin on Skin from Lullabies to Paralyze is the sleaziest song I have ever heard.  And it is wonderful!

I always thought "semen absorbing cervical cyst" fit right in with the rest of those.

Boyz II Men still keepin' up the beat

But that facial hair kills back home.

I'm not in your army anymore!

The first time I saw them was in support of Aenima and Maynard was actually very engaging that night (second of two shows in Sac).  He came out dressed as a preacher and eventually stripped into drag, but gave quite the sermon about the best force in the universe-friction-while motioning his a finger through the thumb

"The corporation is a beautiful tool for doing violence to the spirit of a thousand laws without running afoul of so much as a city ordinance."  First Vonnegut I read, embarrassingly late in my twenties and this was instantly one of my favorite quotes of all time.

I have two of note, both related to Tool.  First, a week after Lateralus was released, Tool played two nights in Berkeley with King Crimson as openers.  Maynard made a reference to the wonderful fans who showed up early enough to see King Crimson and recognize "who we've been stealing all our music from."

The way the mechanics of time travel are outlined remind me of Primer.  Am I the only one?
