The couple in Tallahassee is the same couple in every Mountain Goats song with "Alpha" in the name (most of which aren't actually on Tallahassee), and i believe they actually do break up. The breakup happens in "Alpha Omega", where the narrator wakes up to find (assuming this is from the man's perspective) his wife…
