I came to the conclusion that it doesn't mean anything after that one Vanity Fair(?) article that gave some bullshit explanation of hipsters as "what happens in place of nothing else happening in culture." Apparently hipsters are unique in their fetishization of the past. Obviously the Beatles invented rock music…
