I believe it was the episode after the one where Dolores fell into William's arms that opened with Dolores talking to Bernard, then the episode picking up again with Dolores & William. I wondered how Dolores got away to talk to Bernard and returned to William, so I'm leaning towards there being different timelines.
People like to complain about this no matter what the writers do. If they keep it mysterious & don't explain things then people say it's boring or slow. But if they give us answers, people say there's no mystery, it's all too easy, etc.

For a de-aging effect it was really poorly done. Way too dark around the edges of his face, sort of floated there which doesn't seem like a de-aging effect. It seemed more like pasting in something from another movie.
There was also the host that shot up the saloon while drinking milk, he was standing around after being gut-shot to no effect. Shot badly enough to make the milk pump out of his wound. They are undoubtedly programmed to "die" after being shot, unless the script says otherwise.
