Things that got the most vocal complaints in TLJ were things which were actually consistent with the earlier films.

I think that people have become spoilt. When you look at the the OT films (as you’ve started doing), it really does leave you to fill in the blanks on a lot of things. It doesn’t feel the need to stop and explain everything to you. Not everyone needs a huge backstory.
