This is probably the best time for video games ever. The number of amazing indie games coming out every year is astounding and it's kind of impossible to keep up anymore.
Yellow was the first one I ever played, but my favourite is actually Ruby, it just came out the same year as Metroid Prime which beats everything on this list except Melee. Actually, 2001 to 2003 is when my three favourite games of all time all came out one after another in order. I never realized that.
