Oh yeah, it's definitely the whole package that makes it so great. It's hands down the most fun I've had with a game from last year. Hyper Light Drifter only beat it because of how incredible that game is in every way.
I'd say recency bias played a part in Superhot, but I didn't need months to process that it has the coolest mechanics of any game I've played last year.
