Sounds like we are basically on the same page and we are just disagreeing that Sublime crossed over from "they have fanboys" to "lots of people actually think they were culturally relevant/smart/deep/whatever". And I think Ray tries to kinda prove that point in his interview so that he feels justified in bashing them.

Nah nah nah you got it twisted. They didn't kill reggae, they just did a shitty version of a genre that is really way shittier than people realize/admit.

Why are people getting so mad about someone acting superior to Sublime fans? If you don't think you are superior to Sublime fans, you've got a serious self-esteem issue.

Nah, lots of people are defending sublime. Why would someone read an article about hating a song if they are so thin-skinned they get "irked" by someone bashing a horrible band and song? You guys are missing the point.

There are actually people who are defending Sublime on the internet in 2014. That's a thing that's happening right here.

Grunge sure "mattered" a lot more than this kind of myopic, self-important rock "criticism" that continues to miss the forest for the trees they planted, watered and pruned.
