I think it’s terribly important that the whites in the audience gets to see the casual, relentless white supremacy that a black person in a position like hers experiences.

So as blinkered as Damon as come off, for instance, I can’t imagine he had no idea how all of this would play.

My fear is that none of the people actually involved are being woken up to anything, though. And they’re the ones with the power to change it. I can’t for the life of me imagine why they decided to reboot Project Greenlight. It’s not as if the original concept launched anyone’s career. The only person of note that I remember is Shia LaBeouf from Battle of Shaker Heights and he was already doing a show on Disney by that point.

I was shocked to find out it was still on. I know Damon/Affleck had their little “we’re serious film people” moment 15 years ago, but until the controversy this season, I just assumed it had died out.

Would love to read a Muse interview with Effie Brown. Not specifically about Project Greenlight, but her overall career and plans for the future.

As galling as it is, I think this season is doing a lot of good, simply by pointing out so vividly the many blind spots people have around these issues. It educates and awakens everyone a bit more as we watch it.
