Dowd is an odious nitwit, but is still (nominally) a grown-up. What are we going to do when his administration is completely purged of establishment types, and populated by people who think he’s awesome?

Most guns stores have layaway. I’m not kidding.

The whole “oh my gosh” thing she’s being doing was a work. I suspect before too long she’ll be raging like vintage Rick Flair.

This is worth addressing, because it has come up several times, by people trying to prove that this is indicative of some bottomless flow of corruption or ineptitude from Annapolis that make it either a) not Baltimore’s fault, or b) indicative of Democratic perfidy generally.

Can this be a real thing? Please? Like a female Easy Rawlins, kicking ass and breaking hearts? Maybe Kansas City in the 1930's?

I’ve often thought the same thing, that the BPD needs a full takeover by the State, and top to bottom reorganization.

I met Irene Bedard (the voice of Pocahontas) a number of years ago at the National Powwow. I remember thinking that she was unbelievably beautiful, and that the movie would have been better with an accurate - albeit cartoon - representation of her than the windswept buckskin nonsense.

I’m salty you beat me to the punchline.

Right on. If you have ostensibly committed your life to promoting the message of the gospels, how the fuck does a $230K care do that? How many people could be fed, challenge grants distributed, legal aid clinics funded? That guy is a royal jackass.

Even as a dumb white guy, I know how much effort that took. What an amazing commitment. Brava!

Watching Trump is like watching a dog play fetch with dynamite.

Sometimes I feel this way. Then I think that they are privileged enough that they are immunized from the petty indignities of this regime, and if the shit really went down, they would be in Gstaad before you know it.

Without having this devolve into a semantic argument, I’m uncomfortable with the notion of basic human decency being described as “mercy.” I’m not in a position to otherwise punish these individuals.

Sharing my thoughts as a (white) manager who always makes a concerted effort to hire POC and women. Recognizing my privilege, and using it to try and effect change isn’t “mercy.” My hope is that those POC and women will rise through the ranks of the organization, and be in a better position, over time to make similar

Sweet Jesus, I love receipts!

But warranted.

Not to sound like an aging Marxist, but anyone in a position of power or comfort is loathe to give that up. The system provides a series of ready-made tools that allow people to vent their frustration without subverting the dominant economic paradigm, real change becomes all the harder.

Reading over both Abrams and Evans websites, they seem to be very similar on the issues. It will be an interesting litmus test among white liberals, to see if the policies that animated them in the primary move them on election day.

Summer of ‘96, I’m home from college working a sales job at a very upscale men’s shoe store in suburban Maryland. These two guys come in, wearing immaculate, custom suits. One of them bought a pair of Mauri ankle boots, which was north of $500 then. He paid with crisp $100's pulled from a man purse.

I met her once in a coffee shop, and she was a genuinely warm and kind person. Like talk to my kids for 10 minutes generous with her time, even though they had no idea who she was. This is well deserved.
