Very true.

WAIT I think you were being sarcastic there. I AM DENSE. :)

I think Monsanto is pretty evil and big ag is problematic. And yeah, they do fund a TON of science. The land grant university in my hometown—which has a prestigious ag/tech school—is like practically owned by Monsanto. :(

YES!!! Nutritionist are not the same as Dietiticans! This is also maddening to me.

So, the definition of toxic = hard to say?

Agreed with that! I'm talking about people who claim that GMOs are toxic for consumption. There are a LOT of issues about big agriculture and all that, but I'm talking specifically from a medical/nutrition standpoint. Should have clarified that!

Yeah, I think a lot of alternative medicine practices are actually great and cool, but from a psychological, cultural, or emotional standpoint. Those things are important, and beneficial and I enjoy partaking in them in that sense. But I'm not going to try to cure an actual medical consideration with Reiki or a juice

Did Lindy West herself just recommend my post?!?!?! :D

It is constantly amazing to me the medical conspiracy theories that are prominent among even highly-educated people. There is SO much pseudoscience out there about GMOs, vaccines, nutrition, "toxins" and "detoxing" (ughhhhhhhh), or the general idea that there is some kind of mass conspiracy among doctors to keep

You're probably correct, actually. A LOT of the female fitness models you see in magazines and workout videos have had them—when you get to that low of a body fat %, maintaining bigger boobs is impossible for most women.

Yes! I'm living in my first microwave-free apartment, and don't feel like buying my own. I didn't think it would be a big deal, but you know what I miss it for? Making quick potatoes/sweet potatoes/squash/etc. DO YOU KNOW HOW MUCH IT SUCKS TO WAIT FOR A SPAGHETTI SQUASH TO COOK IN THE OVEN? Takes FOREVER.

I think as long as you can walk confidently in shoes, that's what matters.

I really haven't done enough illegal drugs to have any ability to have informed opinions on these things, apparently. But opium sounds kind of steampunk, so we'll go with that.

Yeah, I have to admit that I kind of agree. Men don't have as many choices as women as to what constitutes professional attire. There are negatives to that, I'm sure, that women don't have to deal with, like having to wear long sleeves and ties in summer heat! Also: sounds boring.

So it is only adultery WITHIN the military? I get the fraternization bans—plenty of workplaces don't allow relationships between employees, and it makes sense. My question is, what if it is adultery with someone who isn't in the military and who is in no way connected to your job? Can you still be punished in that

? Maybe I'm not...you're free to laugh at me if I am missing something really obvious. :) Of course adultery is morally bad, but getting fired for it? Why is one's sex life relevant to one's job?

Random question: can someone with more military knowledge then me explain why adultery is banned in the military? I get banning "fraternizing" or whatever between members of the military, but can't you also be reprimanded for adultery with a civilian? That seems...like some kind of violation of liberty or privacy or

Shit, really?! I'm about to move to Boston. And generally I don't like when random people talk to me, because I am tired and grumpy, yo. Here in DC, public transportation can be an adventure, but strangers almost NEVER interact on the Metro. Even if something super crazy is going on, it takes a lot for people to even

No, I don't really think its great to comment on weight loss, unless maybe you're specifically asked. It implies, for one, that there was something wrong with what they weighed before. And what if they gain the weight back, as most people do? Are they no longer as good, then?

I guess they meant the "CHICKEN and star shaped pasta" part very literally.
