A person who is praised for their poor technique will never understand constructive criticism. The inability to create a form from 3D space is poor technique, I’m sorry to say, that is a pretty big negative.

That is the difference friend. They are painting what is in front of their eyes, what is in 3D space. They understand the shapes and the forms. This guy may have great blending and pencilwork, but I assure you he would not be able to capture a person in real life if this is the only thing he does.

He does not, he is establishing almost no fundamentals, and you can see this especially from his “coloring in” the eyes first. Drawing is about shaping forms and capturing 3D space within a 2D drawing. What he is doing is all well and good, but will not help him much outside of maybe understanding lighting and
