Stereotypes do play into it, but the “call for the treacher” instinct is pretty widespread in America. I can kind of understand it. It’s the same way with a lot of really competitive careers.....in my field getting promoted to a manager is very competitive but very financially and professionally rewarding.

It’s fairly standard female-pedestaling bullshit. People do it because it goes well around: it flatters women’s egos so they love it, and men try to impress women by flattering them so the men usually hop on board too.

Hell. Look at your average evangelical preacher. They rattle on constantly about how special women…

That’s why women were kept at home. It creates an obligation which forces the working class to stay captive because they’ve got the threat of not being able to feed their families. When the wife has a degree and can work too that threat goes away and corporations don’t have the same amount of control over people.

If you follow the issue it’s actually gotten softer from mainstream media, because the administration has agrressively intimidated journalists who are critical. Those who are routinely get searched, have equipment confiscated, and are held hostage for hours any time they travel through the United states.
