I mean there’s definitely an alternate timeline where McBride is not a middle aged white woman but a black or brown person, the police stop them for an air freshener hanging from the rear view mirror, see an outstanding warrant, and shoot them.

Well, two things there: Tina Fey has been the front-runner to replace Lorne Michaels since she was the show-runner. It certainly behooves her to be complimentary. But also, she doesn’t have the best track record of judgement herself, based on her repeated use of blackface and other problematic racial jokes.
I think Lorne said he’d stay to the 50th anniversary, if there is one. I wouldn’t be surprised if he starts handing off more and more of his involvement, although then it would depend on who his replacement is...
Well most people don’t. Most people also thinks he’s a self made genius billionaire. Of course those of us who care know that he is rich because of daddy’s money and seeing’s as he and his dad are white South Africans, his fortune is stained with blood
Watch, it’ll be like when an athlete besides Charles Barkley hosts. All the sketches will be written so they just sit there while everyone else makes jokes around them.
I’m still reserving my judgement.
Win over AV Club writers, apparently!
Another thing Elon Musk is great at? Is there anything he can’t do?!
I actually liked the fact that Sam—and the show—leaned into the idea that Captain America’s superpower is his moral compass, and ability to inspire the best in people. And of course, with Sam his moral compass is especially sensitive to the need of marginalized peoples.
As Sam says about wearing the stars and stripes, he knows they make up a symbol that is not welcome to a lot of people around the world.
I still feel like they might be setting up another twist where Sharon has been replaced by a Skrull. The lack of interest in medical attention kinda hints at that too.
I think Sharon was definitely a miscalculation. It was an extremely obvious surprise, but trying to hide it meant that we lost any real chance to learn about why she’d become like this, which was the real story for her.
I can see it. I loved it as a speech, but it was a super well-prepared speech for a spur-of-the-moment admonishment (and broadcasting worldwide!!). Was Sam rehearsing that on the way to the battle? You could easily imagine MCU-Obama giving the same speech almost line-for-line.
A couple of other thoughts. My God, if…
I am tearing up just writing about it, and I’ve never cried during the whole MCU
I wonder if, the complaints get loud enough, they’ll retcon Sharon being the Power Broker by saying its Skrull imposter via “Secret Invasion”.
In my personal experience, adults who are extremely into Disney and regularly travel there without children are, without fail, fucking weirdos (present company excluded, of course).
Hm... just to spitball here, each phase of the MCU lasted about three and a half years: phase 1 was 2008-2012, phase 2 was 2012-2015, phase 3 was 2015-2019. I mean, in real time. Phase 3 timeline ends in 2023, so in-universe it’s about 5 years per phase. But big time jumps like the one in Endgame are relatively…
Man that sucks. Digital Underground is so underrated. I hate to think some people pass them off as a novelty act. Shock G had so much talent and humor.
Considering all the ant-trans bills that have come out of the woodwork, this is pretty cool. Good on you, Pixar.
Not dealing well with the fact that manuals are all but dead, I see. The EV future does not bode well for you. Lucky that you can keep driving an ICE car for some time yet, hey.
