i'm really not seeing how they've got anything but fraud to go on and even then, the station would have had to have compensated them for their act or clearly indicated from the get go that they were intentionally validating them as strongmen.

True, but that means you went out and made effort into trying food. My niece was fed nothing but chicken and has sadly become basically unable to digest red meat because of it. It now makes her sick because her body never developed the ability to digest it. It's a weird side effect of her diet.
