Once upon a time, I worked with an engineer who was a drummer and had a band, a family, and neighbors in a nice suburban neighborhood, none of whom appreciated the band practicing at his house (he was the one responsible band member holding down a good day-job.) So he took one of the spare bedrooms and nailed up

So the 25 year old who chooses to live at home making 80K a year writing code for software used by people all the country for work contributes less to society, and in fact is a net loss to society, than the 25 year old who chose to live independently but barely earns enough money to pay her rent so that they require

Homer admitted he is racking up quite the back balance which means he is taking more than he is giving.

You mean getting a certification that has nothing to do with your your job as a CPA is useless to advancing in your chosen field? Golly, you’re ever so smart. I bet your next nugget of wisdom is going to be that getting a plumbing diploma is also useless to your job as a CPA.

I would agree if this was the 1950s. But both housing and rent are obscene now, taking up a larger and larger portion of a person’s salary. This is true in the US, Canada, UK, etc.

Very much disagree. I’ve lived by myself but from a purely financial standpoint, given the option to live at home for a few years or get your own place, I took the live at home option. I pay for things around the house so it’s not a total free ride and I have to deal with house rules but the bank statement makes it

Waitress->Humane Society Clerk->Data Entry->Secretary->Call operator is a red flag that you’re a flake with no sense of direction and an inability to focus.

If you must move positions, move to one that is complimentary and establishes a pattern.

If I don’t pre-rinse my dishes, they come out with crap stuck to them. I don’t have a cheap shitty dishwasher either. It’s not the top of the line, but it works fine as long as I pre-rinse. Not to mention clogging the filter.

Well, I’ve obviously never owned a ‘fancy’ dishwasher, because if you don’t basically pre wash everything, it’s going to come out dirty. I look at them as an under-counter self rinsing dish rack.

Don’t have a fancy dishwasher with sensors. Will continue to prerinse.

I love when women watch out for other women

please and thank you

These are the exact reasons why I use the word interesting.

While this comment may have started off as well-meaning, I think it mainly ended up as condescending to those who are struggling with the process, especially if you’re the first in your family to go to college, etc. My background sounds similar (ish) to yours: planned for what the total cost would be, did a business

In the discussion of intelligence I find many people confuse education for intelligence. I have personally known a number of very well educated dummies in my life. People who have performed exceptionally well in reciting memorized tidbits and turning in homework on time but still lack the basic applicable knowledge of

It's also worth noting that the disciples specifically told Paul to quit preaching...
