Gaiman was friends with Douglas Adams who took a similar stance with the Hitchhiker’s works -- the radio show, books, TV show, computer game, and eventual movie (made after Adams’ death) all have separate canons, and except for the movie, all were scripted by Adams himself.
To be fair, American Dad became a much better show after he stopped having such an active hand in it. Family Guy probably got worse, but now that I'm no longer 20 years old even the early seasons aren't that great now that the shock value has faded.

Full disagree. That movie was screamingly funny. Hell, there’s a supercut of McKinnen doing outtakes that are all improv and they’re all absolutely hilarious. All four of the lead actresses were in amazing form. The problem was that people expected a full on Ghostbusters remake and they didn’t get it. Fuck ‘em.
I guess I wouldn’t mind a John Wick movie that shows him still alive, but not as the main character. Show him in a late reveal or a cameo, I just want him to have some rest. The guy’s been trying to get out for 4 movies, let him enjoy life for a while.
Those are the people that will be taken out first (and easiest) when AI becomes aware and then annoyed.
