True, but I think that’s not quite a direct comparison. The Brits did a major overhaul of their currency (just after WWII, I think) and a pound after that was not quite the same as a pound before.

I had a similar experience to yours while reading The Maltese Falcon a long time ago, wherein a pound is valued at close

“Politicians, ugly buildings, and whores all get respectable if they last long enough.”

Crump was a legend. Disney and theme parks in general wouldn't look like they do without him. Talk about immortal...

If it helps, I stopped thinking of this place as The AV Club a long time ago and now just trudge over here a few times a week to see if there have been any interesting blogs posted in between all the garbage. As a trashy pop-culture/gossip/news-aggregation website, it’s one of the less terrible ones.

That was the best thing I’ve read in the AV Club comment section in probably six years.

The Cramps song fit perfectly with the scene in the show. But a weird dance with a weird song is weird-on-weird. That’s too much weird for Tik Tok’s legion of theater kids, so they kept the weird dance and substituted a safe pop song to make the whole thing more accessible.

Real “Arrested Development” energy with that word.

“We gotta be able to come up with a better name”

    Narrator: “They never did”

If Katy Perry is the Radio Disney of pop music, Trainor is the Kidz Bop.

I don’t disagree with that awkward narrative roadblock established by the sequels, but at the same time, Baby Yoda was never, ever going to be gone from “Mandalorian” for long. That puppet is a golden goose for Disney+. I just didn’t think he’d somehow make it back before the new season even started.

    There’s been a lot

Amy Sedaris seeing that weaselly, twerpy Twi’lek guy and exclaiming “hello, sexy!” was the best part of Book of Boba Fett.

    Yes.

Her haircut is the least of the problems with her. She’s terrible in this movie; like really, really bad. It’s surprising, then it’s embarrassing, then it’s sad. She should have been replaced after the first week of filming, a la Keitel in “Apocalypse Now.”

Sometimes you see an ad for something and say to yourself, “huh, that advertisement was for something I’m genuinely kind of interested in; perhaps I shall investigate further.” That’s exactly what that little YouTube clip provided.

This “article,” however, is shameless sponsored content designed to look like a real

He would have been on the list, but this is a G/O Media site. Unions didn’t get a vote in this poll

This is a spectacular take and I'd like to subscribe to your newsletter.

    Fair enough, sir.

Aw, man. I was with you right up until the end there.

Before AV Club and the Gawkerverse at large went to shit five or six years ago, I knew editors were important, but would sometimes wonder how much work they actually do. Turns out it’s a lot of work, and anyone who thinks otherwise should be forced to read nothing but G/O media sites for a week.

That’s fair. I walked away from the game in early 2011 and came back a few months after Warlords for a while and then again right around when Legion launched. There were some truly superb new types of gameplay and narratives, but ultimately it wasn’t the kind of thing I was looking for (also most of the community I
