At the ‘96 games, some asshole at NBC decided they should focus on "stories" rather than broadcasting the events themselves, which was especially frustrating because the Games were in Atlanta that year, providing plenty of time to show events live. Instead we got 15-minute puff pieces on individual athletes followed

That’s a fair point, one that Oprah brought up when she talked about interviewing white supremacists. Giving shitheels any kind of platform is a bad idea, but there’s also the question of remaining silent in the face of hate (or hypocrisy, or con artists, etc.)

They don't even exist in my head until I click on a story that I might want to read, only to be immediately turned off by shitty writing.

That column is appointment reading three times a week.

I need an app or something on my phone to help keep me from clicking on an article only to find out Barsanti or Lussier wrote it.

That’s the cornerstone of why his show sucks. At best, he’s a guy who will listen to a celebrity duscuss their new movie or brand of vodka, letting them give the sales pitch and nodding along like a late night talk show host. Problem is, he does the same thing for literally every guest, and he tries to pass this off

They all wanna be Batman saving Gotham from Bane, but in reality most of them would be the cops trapped underground for two months.

Why force creative types to be creative, right?

I’m just happy it wasn't Lussier writing this news.

The problem with the “Snyder Cut” is that it became a sort of reverse-strawman even before it was released. It was kind of destined to be better received just by nature of not being the theatrical version. And that’s valid for the most part, if only because a film that’s consistent in tone is going to be better than

OK, now I’m pretty sure this is some impressive evolution of those old “repurposed Daily Mail comments” accounts.

I can't tell if this guy is some dumb teenager who recently watched a bunch of YouTube explainer videos about the rise of streaming services, or if it's someone doing a very good satire of a dumb teenager who recently watched a bunch of YouTube explainer videos about the rise of streaming services.

I love looking forward to a Netflix series/season, then waking up the morning of the premiere and seeing countless "let's talk about the final scene in (blank)" blog posts and armies of Twitter users crawling over each other to make GIF memes

I loved the themes and plot of season 2 but I wish they'd played it straight narratively instead of trying to one-up the time-hopping format.

Look, we're all on edge these days. Lord knows I am. But I think you're missing the forest for the trees here.

I was largely underwhelmed by most of Wonder Woman, but when she (seemingly) defeated her enemy and the war didn’t stop, and she was forced to rekon with the idea that humankind’s capacity for violence wasn’t tied to sinister supernatural forces, I was genuinely impressed. It was such a stark repudiation of the hero’s

If you’re asking about frontal nudity... yes there was.

We saw Coon in a production of “Bug,” written by (checks notes) Tracy Letts, at Steppenwolf last week.

If this franchise has hinged on nothing else, it's been its unwavering dedication to realism and strict continuity!
