I've actually been driven around (for a minute at least) in a joystick-controlled car. I believe I was even sitting in the driver's seat, though the driver and joystick happened to be in the back seat at the time... This was an early version of Stanley, the Stanford car that won the original DARPA autonomous driving

I had ice cream while doing car repair once, but it was because a wheel fell off of the car I was towing just as I was going by an ice cream shop, and my friend went in and bought us some ice cream while I was putting the wheel back on...
