He kind of specifically said it was an irrational sort of nostalgia for something, I don’t think it needs to be restated that it’s irrational.

I rode a motorcycle long enough  (where it would typically not trip the vehicle sensors) that I just got used to running red lights when it was safe to do so and I had sat long enough.

The livery colors are great, they logo is meh.

Same! Pumps are so insecure (you see so many stories of skimmers) that I’ve been using exactly this method for about 6 months or so.  It’s actually significantly SLOWER than using a card (the apps aren’t exactly speedy) but still feels more secure.

I understand what you’re saying, but there’s always more that can be done, you have to draw a line at what is reasonable. I don’t think any reasonable person can look at what has been done to prevent people hitting that bridge and say they haven’t done enough.

You cannot be serious. They don’t need a sign at all, there is a sign on either side stating the height and a bright orange bar to remind you that it’s a low bridge. A red stop light and a flashing sign that says literally anything is already overkill and proof these people shouldn’t be allowed to drive trucks.

I dont’ think it was all that veiled.....

Some of the bigger brands have apps that you can pay via. ExxonMobil’s works really well, Shell’s works sometimes, BP’s never. Ironically even the ones that work are nowhere near as convenient as just swiping your card but there’s also no physical interaction with the pump.

Woosh?

A decade is any grouping of 10 years.  “It’s probably been a decade since you had sex” is a valid thing to say at any point.  So while the decade counting from year 1 doesn’t end until next year, the decade as most people think of it (“the 2000's”) ends in 46 days.

Yeah I’m more of a “it can’t be too crispy, but anything less than fully crispy is too chewy” guy.  Obviously a minority opinion :)

Yeah obviously my opinion is not all that popular given the prominence of bacon-love.  :)

Strong disagree on there’s no such thing as bad bacon. I think the whole bacon thing is kind of overstated. Crispy bacon is one of the best things in the world, but chewy bacon (ie how most bacon comes).... flat out not interested

I remember almost getting stuck in that one.  I waited just long enough to see traffic building up exponentially and just ended up staying at work until almost 9pm, and then driving at about 25mph home at that point.  Knew several people who were in it for 4-5 hours or more.

Unrelated to the spirit of this article but I spent many minutes looking for an M3 in the first video before I realized he meant model 3. M3 always exists (in the luxury sports car space no less), it's super confusing that people are overloading it.

Do something like this and now it is eliminating what set them apart from cab companies.

I feel like this is up there with “if you don’t like the weather, wait five minutes and it’ll change” as “things everyone everywhere thinks is unique to their region.”

I loved Car Talk, but saying they didn’t like cars is an understatement. Ray mentions his dislike of cars for environmental and social reasons, and it’s hard to argue with him there, but even people (like myself) who agree on those points can still enjoy cars DESPITE those things. We can enjoy driving and enjoy the

I’m sorry did that say one in three respondents admitted to blowing a red light on the past 30 days? I'm not Sally Law-Follower but I feel like blowing through a red light is one of those "bigger" infractions it would never occur to me to do (unless we're counting "the yellow was shorter than I expected so it turned

I would say it is socially verboten everywhere, but people don’t follow social mores anymore.  I see it a lot here at gas stations with a Dunkin’ in them.  People don’t even get gas. They just park at the pump and get their “coffee” and leave.  Insane.  The Shell I go to by my house also has a car wash and I see
