I own this thing. It’s an OK trimmer, but I find the “vacuum” feature to be all but useless (sure it fills up the little reservoir so it’s doing SOMETHING, but nowhere near enough to keep you from making a mess so what’s the point?), AND having that vacuum hole right under the blade makes it significantly more

Good after the fact but hard to prove when you pull someone over, I guess.

I’m probbaly OK with a .05, honestly, but can’t get behind blanket statements like “no impairment.” Some groups want to restrict radio use in vehicles because it “impairs” your attention. Make reasonable arguments about reasonable limits that get the vast majority of dangerous people off the road, and you’ll be far

By a large margin, I’d say texting and other phone-related activity is probably way overshadowing intoxicated driving at this point, it’s just harder to prove / catch / regulate / make effective stats for.

Fine, SOME cancers can benefit from early detection. I’m not sure I really grasp the mentality of “well, for some things there’s nothing you can do, so why try?” I’m sorry about your dad and all, but... I mean... I have several family members who have had random health issues caught by “routine” physicals that left

This is overly simplistic and just shows a bizarre disdain for medical practices (“we’ll take your money”). The two top killers of people in America by a pretty huge margin are cancer and heart disease, both of which HUGELY benefit from early detection, and can often show no outward symptoms until “too late” (heart

Well, at least his signature expresses his personality.

I get “just a bin with no moving parts” from the link in the comment that I responded to, which is clearly visible in this thread, but I’ll re-paste it here : http://www.amazon.com/simplehuman-Tr…

Exactly. Round gauges are very quickly readable. Just because you can display information more... “efficiently” in different ways doesn’t mean you keep all of the subtleties that make a round gauge work. That mockup... aside from being horrifically ugly, takes way more time to parse than a simple set of dials.

There’s a similarly ironic magazine called “RealSimple” that is filled with ridiculously complex and expensive recipes and design ideas.

Well I chose this post over the other SimpleHuman ones because this is JUST a bin, no foot pedal or anything. Like, MAYBE I could see someone justifying overpaying for a nice bin with moving parts because they’re less likely to break (in theory), but in my 35+ years on this earth I’ve never had a open-top bin “break”

Absolutely to each his / her own. It’s just that... I’ve never in my life had a non-mechanical trashcan “break” on me, or require anything more than a wipe-down. Your cost breakdown is a wonderful justification, and if it makes you happy I’m very happy for you. But objectively my ten dollar trash can performs the same

While I’m generally not averse to paying for quality products, paying over 100 dollars for a bucket to throw trash into seems absolutely insane to me.

I was never a sportbike guy, and even the few times I have ridden them I’ve had not much desire to do anything stupid on them, but I guess I understand the allure, in a closed environment.

The linked article called them out by name.

Man, you have never been more wrong about anything than about “reheating chicken in the microwave improves its flavor 5x”. Microwaved chicken tastes like rotten frog. I don’t like cold leftovers, but I’ll do anything to avoid microwaving meat.

I never really understood why this is weird (not because I’m from NH, mind you — I’ve never seen these in NH, only in Texas, but I wouldn’t be surprised to find they exist here as well). Most people drive to liquor stores, and haul their booze home in cars, no? Why does getting out of your car to get the booze make it

Bah, sorry, I actually do try not to use it, but old habits die hard. Good righteous indignation though, kudos!

That’s the official definition, but a lot of people just call all red sauce gravy because... slang? They learned it that way early? Stupid TV shows / movies? :)

The retarded anger on either side of this argue is completely nonsensical. They don’t say gravy OR sauce or anything English in fucking Italy, whatever your grandparents call it (half of mine say sauce, the other half gravy) is just a peculiar accident of translation, not a statement about your authenticity.
