I get not knowing how to do something, especially if you literally never have to. Never driving a stick when you're from Manhattan? Perfectly fine with that. Not knowing basic things about the world around you I'm much less forgiving about. There are plenty of things I don't give a fuck about but I see it in a

I guess I should have said it never really affected me, not that I didn't understand. I certainly understand the concept of "more hours of daylight," and if you work a strict 9-5 DST gives you more hours.

What kind of people are you letting your car, man?

I've kind of always been lucky enough that my job hours are pretty flexible and I don't have kids, so... I just never really understood the obsession with DST. The amount of daylight and night did not change, just a number on a clock.... daylight savings, NOT daylight savings, whatever.

My wife being from CT is how I learned that safety inspections weren't necessarily a given. She was flummoxed that she had to do it when she moved up here. I can't fathom, with all the rules and safety restrictions on public roads, that a state would think that giving even a cursory glance at the roadworthiness of a

THANK you to number 1. Words have meanings. Per Accuweather :

I honestly had no idea that some states didn't have safety inspections until about 2 years ago. Even some northern states! (Connecticut, in particular).

Ah. I'm guessing in cities it's different since chains are everywhere.

I think if I had a first-hand comparison to something like that I'd use it whether it was confusing or not, so I don't blame you.

I'm thinking maybe comparing yourself to a presumably small part of something that's known for being oversized is not the best way to say "small." ;)

"gas station with service bays and not a convenience store for those under 35"

Just out of curiosity, where do you live? Still plenty of gas stations with service bays by me (plenty with convenience stores, too, of course).

"The guys were able to save the engine with some Engine Restore and a few flushes of fresh oil, but they said it still sounded like a diesel when it left."

If it's just a percentage, and not scaled differently for higher numbers.... that's still an expensive ticket.

Agreed. I'll admit it took me a lot of years to get to this point :)

Re-reading his email you're probably right, since he says he "falls apart" around attractive women. I just get weary of any advice that says "treat everyone the same." That's horrible advice. It's exactly what men do when they claim to be in the "friend zone" — they treat everyone as their friend, so no one wants

I dont' know how you treat your sister, but I just disagree. I do agree that "most dudes treat attractive women" in a way that is not conducive to any kind of relationship but substituting one type of poor interaction with another is hardly a solution.

So... obviously, I agree. Talk to women as you would any other human being. BUT.

I'm an adult of about Drew's age but I have zero kids, and I still can't sleep past 7AM except in rare instances, and even then it's like... 8:15. "Whoa you slept in!" my wife will say. Meanwhile she could sleep til noon if I let her / she felt so inclined.

That little winky face up there means I was joking, FYI. I love science. I even have a degree or two to prove it! ;)

It was awesome because we were children, not because it was awesome. No way was the pizza ever any good though.
