I come from the school of thought that if it takes you 7 years to pay off a new car, you really ought to be looking at a decent used car. Of course, if you can't come up with a 20% down payment on a new car, then you probably don't have the cash to buy a used car, so then we get back to why 84 month car loans exist

This just proves that its basically impossible to do a good or actual cheap car right and that's pretty sad when I think about it. No anti lock brakes? This is 2014. They had to forgo even basic saftey systems to get the price under 10 grand?

I for one hate the ginormous grille. I don't know if its driven by the pedestrian safety standards or by the same streak of terrible taste that drives the popularity of crossovers and SUVs but I hate this trend. Ford, Audi, Lexus and Mercedes in particular need to reconsider their design language. Its absolutely

Here's where I agree:

Raising gas taxes WILL NOT solve the infrastructure problem. Actually spending the gas tax ON ROADS will.

It's probably an inevitability, but I think it would have been better if we'd have just upped the taxes now while gas is cheap and people wouldn't have noticed. Ok, flame away.

Doug, it's all about the smug factor.

hopefully in 70 years jalopnik will post article on how ''90 year old special needs guy works at ford dealer for 70 years''

Just for once I would like to see a car maker say "screw the aerodynamics, lets make something big and handsome". In Lincon's case, bring back the '63 Continental or as close to it as possible. Like this.

YESSSSSSSSSS:

I always have thought Slate was just a poorly done wannabe version of The Onion.

Something like, this, maybe: (designed & rendered by me)

The interior quality was spectacular

The first turbocharged Mustang in more than three decades is certainly a huge step up from the rental car that the V6 Mustang is, but is it fun enough to provide a real alternative to the GT?

Jeez— I'm still having trouble wrapping my head around the concept that a 2+2 GT with IRS, disc brakes all around, a 4-cam, all-aluminum 7000 rpm V-6 and six-speed manual is —Horrors!— a mundane, rental-spec dog.

I haven't seen any dyno figures for the '15 V6, but it's basically a carryover from last year. That being the case, I don't know how anyone can say the V6 is "lazy" or that it doesn't have any midrange torque. Claimed torque figures are ~280 lb-ft and I've seen many, many dyno runs with 240-250 at the rear wheels,

I guess as a hispanic I should only listen to Spanish music. And if I ever want to make any type of music I should only resort to salsa. I need to know my place so I don't get accused of stealing someone's culture. I need to know my place

The Journey wasn't even the worst offender. What's amazing is they went from this:

UPDATE FROM THE GATE: I've been sitting here at SFO waiting for my delayed flight to DFW, happened to come across your article on my phone, and realized you were talking about the plane that's parked right in front of me. There's a huge line of passengers trying to get re-booked on other flights but they're mostly
