I just had this conversation with some buddies that build $100k+ race-bikes last week... They said that, even with EFI, a new muffler requires some tweaks to the fuel system.
I was at the auto parts store a few months ago, kid pulls up on his crotch rocket motorcycle. Comes inside and buys a cheap-looking chrome exhaust tip. I then notice him trying to fit onto his hack-sawed off exhaust pipe where he cut the whole muffler off right behind the foot peg......
