They’d better be. This is an outright attack on the 1st amendment and our right to assemble.

“Had to use my billion dollar invisible ray gun to help break up the protests. Here’s your bill.”

I’d love to see the ACLU jump right in the middle of this.

This is ludicrous.. It’s also financial incentive to arrest more people during a protest, and/or to use more expensive and unnecessary means in response. In addition to, you know, violating constitutional rights and effectively threatening people against protesting.

Anyone who says this isn’t straight up fascism, is a straight up fascist themselves. Our right to peacefully assemble, which means anything short of actually smashing shit up, is guaranteed by our 1st amendment constitutional rights. Don’t think for a second that this law will not be used by a federal agency at some

The unspoken caveat. Additionally:

“If you violate the law, if you block traffic, if you block access to a building, and if you are a black/brown person, that’s what this bill is for.”

Yes, Paris has the right to self-identify all she wants. You do not have the right to decide Paris’ identity for herself. You can only hold an opinion of what you believe she should be - which has no place in self-identity.

yeah, this is a tough one. I like their sentiment, but if you’re backing Trump, their message is just words and not deeds to back it up. I mean even if they live their daily life that way, they supported someone who doesn’t.

I’m all for rich Trump supporters to throw around money while desperately telling everyone they meet that they’re not racist. I get the impulse, and the $450 is crazy generous. But saying the equivalent of, “Oh, you’re one of the good ones. Here’s some money.” still seems off putting.

Oh, very much so. Look at all of the news incidents about black people maltreated by cops.

The loss of net neutrality will suck, but the social networks most people use to spread information, Facebook , Twitter, YouTube, will presumably cut deals and Facebook and Google, at least, have the money to spend.

The most surprising thing about the “whitelash” was that it didn’t happen while Romney was running. That made some people think it wouldn’t happen at all.

Had to apologize to my immediate office neighbors when I absolutely lost my shit at #4.

Seriously, The Root is what Jez should have been a long time ago. So glad to have them on board!
