Iono... It’s like saying fingerprint sensors “erase” people who don’t have hands.

No, they can’t use only about 6 months delay to upgrade components. It takes a lot to validate parts/assemblies/instruments for space use, so swapping something out would require all new validations. Several months isn’t enough time to do this.
