Counterpoint: I like black cars and I don’t care what color other people’s cars are because they are not mine.

I am not specifically anti-nuke. I am just pro-solar. My point was that when a solar plant fails there is less fallout.

Still mad about Wash.

Fair enough. I should avoid jargon that I don’t fully understand. “Fails” should have been the word.

Subtle. +1

Then he should have knocked me for not understanding geographic area. Instead I was accused of being ignorant of radioactive decay (which I mostly am). The takeaway is that at least some area will be uninhabitable for several millennia.

Asked when the reactor site would again become inhabitable, Ihor Gramotkin, director of the Chernobyl power plant, replies, “At least 20,000 years.”

I assume this will be the next headline, right?!

I knew it would be 2018 before I even clicked the link.

While technically correct, this is an odd use of a word that means “thousands of years.” Life has been evolving (and going extinct) for 4 billion years (http://www.techinsider.io/oldest-fossils…). That said: human ingenuity has brought the animal to the edge of extinction; using the same ingenuity to prevent
