Wait a minute, Kevin isn't retarded…?

I'll be watching this the moment it goes live on Netflix.

I guess we just see it differently. I've used the "satire" frame to help people appreciate Frances and Girls more. It seems to help some folks get past the "but I don't like them" complaint.

If I happened upon this at a friend's party, I'm pretty sure I'd go up to the singer afterward and say "Um, have you considered trying a different voice. Seems a little high and affected. Just trying to help."

I know people like Frances and like a few of the main characters in Girls and I think the jokes at their expense are hysterical. Doesn't mean I have no feelings of sympathy for them. Part of what makes both of these pieces work is that we laugh at the characters and care about them.

Geez, Frances Ha and Squid & the Whale are both biting satires that are highly critical of their central characters. I don't see how anyone could view those as "wish fulfillment" fantasies.

Frances Ha was outstanding. I thought Greta gave one of the best performances of the year.

I appreciate the effort that went into this. Thanks.

Solid.

You're thinking of Ed Blumquist. Not a bad guy…but I don't think things are going to work out.

Fisher Stevens is Indian!

"Splett!"

Considering the drop-off in quality between PP1 and PP2, maybe this is for the best.

Going from "District 9" to "Elysium"…oof. Has there been a bigger dropoff in quality for a director between their first and second film?

Rashida Jones in a comedy? I'm not falling for that again.

I'm still confused that Depeche Mode was performing and had written one of their biggest hits when they were 14 years old.

Too bad Holofcener is no longer directing. I really like her work.

Why would people be upset about a genuinely talented cast and director doing a new version of a classic? It might be really good.

It looks like in real life people have wayyyyy more wrinkles.

I'm all for learning the spelling of common words…but I have yet to come across an article where drahthaar or gesellschaft were misspelled.
