Most of us don’t believe it will be an overnight collapse, but a gradual, slow collapse. When times get tough, like the Great Depression, the banks start reposessing property because of debt. Better to be debt free.

The standard is that the collapse won't be an overnight thing, but a gradual fall. Having debt means that in the meantime banks will still have enough power to repossess your property because of your sky high debt. Better to pay on cash and avoid debt.

Every one is stoic when they are fat and happy. The people who proclaim they would rather die are those who often fight the hardest to stay alive.
