I’ve spent a lot of time learning about personal finance and I’m naturally very frugal. That said, I’m less inclined than I used to be about financial-shaming people. The deck is usually stacked, there’s a power imbalance, and a car purchase is usually not a discretionary luxury purchase for most people. This comment

imo the letter was fine; the issue was his return to the spotlight and material about the situation didn’t really match that sense of contrite self-reflection.

I genuinely thought he might quit*. I was like 90% sure that it was some long con to prove people liked him a lot so NBC would renew The Apprentice and that he really wanted to be president. Hell, part of me still feels like if NBC offered him a TV show he might drop out even now. Like not to play armchair

To my discredit, post-election 2016 I thought it would be the latter, your best case scenario. And everybody else would know things like Hilary couldn’t be sent to jail “just because” or that we couldn’t get Mexico to pay for a wall, so they would quietly go about their business governing while trump made speeches,

I’ll try again:

Biden is going to cost this country so fucking much and fuck the entire apparatus supporting this fucking albatross right now. Forget about Project 2025, that’s think tank spook shit, I remember the freak out over the Project for a New American Century, this is about the Supreme Court and health insurance for about

Both candidates are terrible. Vote for the one who won’t require a coup to replace if the need arises.

Additionally, I never had the feeling in 2016 that if Trump lost his supporters would try a fucking armed coup.

There are some interesting quotes missing from the podcast for the second woman who sent the textThank you for a lovely, lovely night. Wow x.’ the next day and then also “sent Mr Gaiman numerous text and video messages in which she explicitly said she had consented during their sexual encounters, and also said she

His response where he claimed one of the alleged victims had a “condition that creates false memories” seems really fishy to me.    I think at the very least this is going to come down to a famous man with power used that to sleep with a bunch of women.

My guess is that he was told multiple times and probably just handwaved whatever approval would be needed on his behalf. I mean given the residuals he’s likely not hurting for money anyway. If I was getting residuals from Speed, Twister and Die Hard I’d probably say “let my accountant/agent handle it” too.

long-awaited follow-up

You could say the same thing about trump supporters.  America loves an underdog, so when they love someone, they have to turn them into an underdog.

I was thinking the same.  I think it could be fairly interpreted either way, but given their friendly relationship I think the more reasonable interpretation is that he was placing his band opposite bands who do not play live, not necessarily that Taylor is among those.

Agreed. I can see how an aggressive fan could take it as a dig towards Swift, but I read it as Grohl using the massive cultural phenomenon that is the Eras Tour as a jumping off point for his own musings. I’d take the “we actually play live” as being in comparison to pop in general (or other older rock bands?) before

It’s surprising for Grohl to be throwing such obvious shade Swift’s way, first because he’s clearly aware of the consequences of “the wrath of Taylor Swift,” and second because the pair have always been friendly in the past.

Very good job. You insulted Bill Maher over 10 different ways. I talked with the leftists, and they’ve agreed to keep you on the Good Dog list, with a treat to boot.

This happens with all developed countries, some more than others. It doesn’t matter your political stance either because this goes across the spectrum of political parties in the US and parties in other countries.

Well said. Not the time to try to convince people that masks don’t work or that vaccines are dangerous. This makes me angry with my own country’s government, and for once Cheetolini is not the only one at fault.

I’m not necessarily against psi-ops campaigns, b/c they do have their place and uses in regards to national security and interests, but this is one that didn’t seem necessary, needed, or helpful. If anything it only served to fuel the anti-vax movement which has been detrimental to our collective public health the
