I propose we remove “woke” from any and all future discussions.

I live near Milwaukee and here is what gets me: He runs as a Democrat so he can get the African American vote. Seems like none of the right wing mouth-pieces ever mention this. I will be glad to be rid of him.
I see it as a win-possible win. The people of Milwaukee get rid of this asshole and maybe he’ll end up doing the impeachment perp walk with Trump because he seems like the kind of bootlicking dumbass who will do whatever Trump tell him to do because ‘Murica.
This was the man who tweeted out how great the votes by land percentage and thought it was great.
The reason why the civil rights movement was successful was because it had a very clear agenda and well-established leadership. The issue with BLM and many other modern “movements” is that they don’t. We will never make forward progress when we are all running in different directions.
“But these organizers are disillusioned. Neither Sinyangwe nor Teka have immediate solutions for recapturing the public’s attention, but they will continue to organize for change where they can.”
Part of the problem was that the movement got subsumed into general American leftist radicalism, and that’s when they lost…
Their music selection for him is perfect.
“if you want to pokemon go to the polls...”

If at first you don’t succeed...The only positive to last years election was the end of HRC and DWS. So basically there is no fucking positive.
“In 2015, as our industry was just beginning to unionize, Peretti told his employees that a union “wouldn’t be very good” for them. “
He then built a list with animated gifs from his favorite TV shows so the average employee could relate.
Stop being whiny, milquetoast, effete, bitches and start punching some people in the mouth - both literally and figuratively. Read Marx and Engels. Read Jeff Sachs. Hell, read dumbass Milton Friedman’s horseshit so you know where the other side is coming from. Basically, have an informed voice, be prepared to use it…
He’s moving on to a position in a national campaign on poverty and oppression.
One of David Straitharn’s best roles as the gun slinging pro-union sherriff. Haven’t watched a Sayles’ movie in decades. I think the last one was Lonestar. I should probably check out what he’s been doing lately.
Its better if the antivaxxers are not there. they would try and “cure” measles with homeopathy or chiropractic back “adjustments”. they are quacks.
The anti-vaxxer campaing may have some high profile lefties in it but it is equal opportunity stupidity. Most of the right wing religious Trump supporters in our area are refusing vaccines as well as not being God’s will.
One of the challenges you’ll face whenever you’re in a poor, rural and Southern area (regarding how to reach them as a Democrat) is that these people are quite frequently tradition-oriented, family-focused and conservative socially. The modern Democratic Party takes an attitude somewhere between indifference to and…
Hey, Nolan, thank you. I appreciate seeing something about my home state that isn’t some horrible, gleeful variation of “how can they be so STUPID?” or “bet those redneck Trump supporters are mad at themselves now!”
Thanks for this excellent piece, Hamilton. Just wanted to point interested readers/viewers (if this makes it out of the greys) toward John Sayles’s brilliant 1987 film about the Matewan Massacre, Matewan. (Among the very fine cast are James Earl Jones and Chris Cooper.)
The miner’s life was the subject of an unlikely 1955 #1 hit song, 16 Tons by Tennessee Ernie Ford.
Bernie Sanders won every single county in West Virginia’s Democratic primary, and nearly half of those Sanders voters said they would vote for Trump over Hillary Clinton. This is what anti-establishment sentiment looks like.
