That’s all I could think of the whole time I was reading the post. What a missed opportunity.

Instead of trying to get me to rent cars, just sell me a plug-in hybrid with 100 miles of EV range.  Most days that’s more than I need, and when I leave town I run the gas engine.  I have one EV and 4 ICE cars, all daily driven.  All 5 would be better as PHEVs.

My Niro EV is just a small CUV/large hatchback that happens to be electric. Other than charging and the horrible beeping in reverse, the ownership and driving experience is very much traditional. With 280 miles of range, it’s more than up to 95% of our driving tasks.

This is exactly where I’d be. I have a strong preference for ‘65 Rivs and ‘62 T-Birds, but I don’t think you can go wrong here.

I may have actually told them not to swerve for anything below the hood line - just didn’t want to rile up the pet lovers. If it’s between the bottom of the bumper and the top of the hood and you can’t safely stop, accelerate.

I used to oversee delivery operations in Alaska in a previous job - can confirm that a moose will destroy even a semi truck.  We put massive steel guards on the front of ours.

One of the things I stressed with my kids when teaching them to drive was not to swerve for anything smaller than a cat. There’s plenty of squirrels, not worth potentially running off the road to save one.

I just got $6k I hadn’t planned on (thank you insane used car prices!), and I have been yearning for a stick shift convertible. If this were closer, I’d be very tempted. NP

Neutral - I have 3 teen drivers in my household, and 5 total vehicles.  Terrified to get my next policy quote.

Vroom offered me $8k over the payoff on my 2 month old Niro EV, but I don’t want to give it up. So I thought I would just go lease another one and sell that, and almost did. Now I’m glad I didn’t because Kia changed the rules before I would have been able to flip it, and I would have been stuck with an extra car for 2

Based on what my friends that own them tell me, if he’s driving that much he’ll spend over $10k just in tires on a Model S P90D over 5 years.

I never had a problem with my Mini (top down most of the time), but every single 1-Series BMW convertible I’ve looked at had a rear window problem, and it’s the same story.  It’s one of the key reasons I ended up with a 3-series instead.

Unfortunately, Tesla won’t let you buy your car at lease end.

I’m pretty sure the cheapest $/mile all-in daily driveable vehicle ever is my ‘07 FJ Cruiser, that has needed only oil changes and tires, and has increased in value at least 50% in the 3 years I’ve owned it. Also dirt cheap to insure. I guess the MPG is bad. My leases are great, and it’s missing a few of my favorite

All of these were done with 0 down, and included tax/license.

Here’s two - my $46k Kia Niro EV that I pay $200/month on including taxes (zero due at signing) and a $238/month Kia Sportage AWD I got for someone else. Or for 1 more, my friend’s $175/month Tacoma Double Cab 4x4.  Wish I had jumped on that deal when I could have.

Had a 300 loaner a few weeks ago, and I was really disappointed. Looked great, but the seats were terrible, the ride was bad, and it just felt old and tired.

I agree that it can happen. I have an ‘07 FJ Cruiser too, and it has asked almost nothing from me in the last 2 1/2 years but oil changes and tires. I think the only repair has been replacing a wheel bearing, $100 and 90 minutes of my time. It’s also increased in value by 50% or more. I’d say though that it’s the

I know my dad never felt entitled to grandpa’s money, and he was happy to watch him enjoy it.  That said, he was a farmer/rancher who made some very prescient land buys decades ago, which would bring plenty if we could ever bring ourselves to actually sell it.  My kids might have to make that call when I pass.
